Aquatics Coordinator

The Winnipeg Winter Club is seeking a full-time Aquatics Coordinator with anticipated start date of mid-August. The Club offers a competitive salary as well as health and dental benefits. Submit resume and cover letter to Casie Nishi, CEO at cnishi@winnipegwinterclub.com Position Overview Reporting to the CEO, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing pool programs and operations including water safety programs, swim lessons and programs, and staff management. This role ensures a safe, clean, and engaging aquatic environment while developing high quality programs that align with the Club’s commitment to an exceptional member experience. The Aquatics Coordinator will lead a team of lifeguards and instructors and maintain compliance with safety regulations and provide leadership in safety and emergency response throughout the Club. The role also includes break and relief coverage for the reception desk as assigned. This position works Tuesday through Saturday during the fall, winter and spring, and Monday through Friday during the summer. Facility & Safety Oversee daily operations of the pool facility • Ensure all safety procedures are followed, including lifeguarding, deck cleanliness, and emergency response protocols • Implement and enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal guidelines. • Ensure clean and safe pool equipment including but not limited to lifejackets and flutter boards. • Plays a leadership role in the Club’s Emergency Response Committee. • Ensures first aid kits, AEDs, emergency equipment checklists, and red emergency binders are up to date and compliant with provincial standards and Club policies. • Respond to emergency situations promptly and lead incident investigations, completing necessary reports. • Coordinates staff CPR and First Aid training for all staff within the Club. Staff Leadership With support from the CEO, recruits, hires, onboards and provides performance coaching to lifeguards and swim Instructors. • Communicates and ensures compliance to human resource policies and procedures. • Verifies staff certifications and ensures compliance. • Remains up to date on Manitoba Safety Standards and Lifesaving Society rules and regulations. • Develop and manage staff scheduling and payroll. • Ensures standard procedures, practices and expectations are clear to staff and followed on a regular basis. • Provide coaching and on-going feedback to staff reinforcing positive behaviors, while offering guidance in areas of development. • Has a regular presence in the pool area to provide coaching and mentorship for staff. • Coordinates staff schedule and completes payroll for the aquatics department. Programming • Develops program schedule and o􀆯erings that meet the needs of members and in alignment with revenue and member engagement goals. • Coordinates delivery of swim lessons and progress reporting. • Coordinates member special events and parties in the pool and other activity spaces. • Identifies and develops new and innovative aquatics programs to meet the needs of members and their families. • Coordinate the pool schedule and allocate time to various programs and open member times. • Works collaboratively with the Lifesaving Society to maintain the Club’s license to deliver swim lesson programming.' Member engagement • Ensures a customer-focused registration process. • Communicates with members in a timely manner. • Coordinates registration and member inquiries relating to aquatics lessons and programming. • Has regular presence in the pool area for member and parent inquiries Aquatics Service Delivery • Performs direct service duties, including lifeguarding and delivering swim instruction to support program delivery and maintain skill set within these roles. Other Duties • Conducts regular facility walk-throughs of the Club to monitor cleanliness, identify safety risks, address member concerns, and ensure a high standard of overall presentation and service. Takes immediate action on issues by contacting cleaning staff, locker room staff, or other on-duty personnel as needed. • Serve as the lead person when other leadership is not present, ensuring proper response, documentation, and follow-up in the event of an incident, in accordance with Club protocols and safety standards. • Act as the primary point of contact to resolve program or schedule conflicts, coordinate quick solutions, and communicate with staff and members to maintain smooth operations. • Provides reception desk coverage during scheduled breaks, staff absences, and as needed to ensure uninterrupted service. Qualifications: • National Lifeguard Certificate • Swim for Life Instructor Certification • First Aid C & Standard CPR • Additional Lifesaving Society Certification are considered an asset. • Post-secondary education is considered an asset.
