National Drowning Prevention Week: July 18-25, 2015
Drownings in Canada have shown an upswing in recent years, says the Lifesaving Society. The Lifesaving Society hopes its National Drowning Prevention Week, which begins Saturday, July 18, will remind Manitobans to practice safe behaviour in, on, and around the water.
The Society’s Canadian Drowning Report shows there were 495 drowning deaths in 2012 – the most recent year in which national data is available – up from the 450 recorded the year before. Click here to read the Society’s 2015 Canadian Drowning Report.
Help us the reduce the toll of drownings across the province by participating in National Drowning Prevention Week 2015. Please also follow the Society on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With your help we can reduce the number of deaths and injuries from water-related incidents in Manitoba and across Canada.
