Healthy Living Minister proclaims Drowning Prevention Week, July 20-27
In recognition of the Lifesaving Society’s National Drowning Prevention Week, Healthy Living, Seniors, and Consumer Affairs Minister has proclaimed July 20-27 Drowning Prevention Week in Manitoba.
“It only takes a second for a great day on the water to turn tragic,” said Rondeau in a provincial news release. “We urge parents and guardians to keep small children within arm’s reach at all times.”
As drownings peak at this time of year in Canada, the Lifesaving Society designates the third week in July as National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW). The event increases awareness, across Canada, of the need for drowning prevention. It also aims to promote awareness of the Society’s public advocacy role; to reinforce the identity of the Lifesaving Society as experts in the field of drowning prevention; and to promote the Society’s objectives.
