National Lifeguard – Pool
Advance your YMCA aquatic leadership to a peak level!
The National Lifeguard – Pool Award builds on the fundamental skills, knowledge and values taught in the awards of the Canadian Lifesaving Program to develop the practical skills and knowledge required by professional lifeguards.
National Lifeguard training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. The National Lifeguard program is designed to prepare lifeguards to fulfill this role as professional facilitators of safe, enjoyable aquatic experiences.
All textbooks are included in the cost of the National Lifeguard course.
Prerequisite: Bronze Cross, Standard(Intermediate) First Aid*** and 15 years of age, must be provided to the instructor on the first day of the course
**Important Note about the Standard First Aid Prerequisite: the required Standard First Aid must be listed in the Manitoba Public Health Act P210: Swimming Pools and Other Water Recreational Facilities Regulation M.R. 68/2015: Lifesaving Standard First Aid, Lifesaving Aquatic Emergency Care, Red Cross Standard First Aid, St. Johns Ambulance Standard First Aid, Criti-Care Standard First Aid, Safety Services Manitoba Standard First Aid, or Heart Beat Inc. Manitoba Standard First Aid.
