Jeff Bayne Memorial Award – Financial support for aquatics training and certification

Late in 2023, we lost a true champion of the Manitoba aquatic community. Jeff Bayne, an early National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner in Manitoba was deeply passionate about lifesaving and lifeguard training. He is remembered as a kind, caring, compassionate man, who always had time to listen and help other instructors and lifeguards.

In partnership with the Bayne family, Lifesaving Society Manitoba has created the Jeff Bayne Memorial Award. Thanks to a generous estate gift, an endowment fund has been established through The Winnipeg Foundation which will fund bursaries for those pursuing training and certification in Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, National Lifeguard (any stream), Swim for Life Instructor, and Lifesaving Instructor.

It is a true honour to be a part of the profound legacy left by Jeff Bayne.

This award will ensure that Jeff’s personal commitment to water safety and drowning prevention continues to make a lasting impact on the safety and well-being of Manitobans.

Complete guidelines and the application form are available here.

Deadline for submissions is October 15, 2025.
