Lifesaving Society’s Ice Safety Day
March 1
Lifesaving Society Canada has declared March 1 as National Ice Safety Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of ice safety and the risks associated with ice-related activities. The Society encourages communities to share messages and resources to promote ice safety awareness. They emphasize the need for preparedness, such as wearing lifejackets or float coats, and the importance of checking ice thickness before venturing onto it. The Society also stresses the need for caution around unfamiliar paths or unknown ice and the need for a buddy when going on the ice.
