Lifesaving Society Manitoba – Board of Directors – Call for Nominations 2026
Are you passionate about safety on and around the water? Do you share in our vision of a Manitoba free from drowning and water-related injury? If so, we would love to hear from you!
The Board of Directors of Lifesaving Society Manitoba is seeking interested and qualified individuals to serve on the Board for the 2-year term starting in April,2026. We are seeking candidates for two positions on the Board of Directors.
Eligibility:
To serve on the Board of Directors, candidates are required to be:
· 18 years of age or older
· Ordinarily Resident in the Province of Manitoba
· Not disqualified from sitting as a director on the Board of a corporation/registered charity operating in Manitoba
· Able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per year to Board activities
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
· Commitment to the Society’s mission of preventing drownings and water-related injuries
· Ability to work as part of a team of diverse individuals
· Previous Board of Directors experience would be an asset
The Lifesaving Society is a national charity working to prevent drowning and water-related injuries, through lifesaving training programs, Water Smart public education, water incident research, safety management services and lifesaving sport. Lifesaving Society Manitoba is the provincial branch of the national Society that oversees operations within Manitoba.
Individuals serving on the Board of Directors are responsible for ensuring that the Society is meeting its mission and is in compliance with the laws and regulations that govern the Society’s business. The Board oversees the work of the Executive Director and is responsible for setting strategic direction, providing financial oversight, and ensuring good governance of the Society.

Once your complete application has been received, the Board Development Committee will contact you to further discuss your candidacy.
Nominators must be Lifesaving Society Manitoba members.
In addition to this Nomination Form, nominees must submit:
· A brief personal resume describing your professional skills, experiences, hobbies, involvement with the Lifesaving Society, and other volunteer experience.
· A written submission that explains why you are interested in becoming a director, how your skills and areas of expertise would be an asset to the Board, and your ideas for further developing Lifesaving Society Manitoba
